Beatlemania

Beatle Hair, Beatle Boots

Among the many changes the Beatles brought to the world were several fashion styles—their clothes and hair. Their hairstyle got them referred to as “Mop Tops” and that wasn't inaccurate: The style was very long for a time in which crew cuts and flattops ruled. Many Americans in particular considered the Beatles' hair a sort of bizarre gimmick. To millions of others, however, it was a simple, liberating, and daring idea. Throughout the rest of the sixties, hairstyles, especially for men, got longer and longer.

Another Beatle trademark was their fondness for pointed leather boots, which all four of them wore. The shoes were hip and seemed a sort of holdover from their rougher Hamburg days. They can still be found in some shoe stores today, and are still known as Beatle boots.
